I am as surprised as you are. The latest Brandon DNA Project member at Family Tree DNA, a descendant of the Halifax, Virginia crew, is an exact match to several lines. Keep in mind that extra tests are in the works to whittle the list down. The Halifax line matches exactly descendants of Pennsylvania's James Brandon b.1693 (of the 5 Irish brothers, father assumed John Brandon b.1662), Thomas Brandon b.~1745 d. Greene Co, TN, Charles Brandon b.1750 of the Pacolet, SC, Charles Brandon b.1774 w/3 wives of OH and several lines searching for connections in the 1800s US. Remaining unique are four lines that match except for a few markers: Joseph Armstrong Brandon b.1793 NC, a Co. Fermanagh, Ulster, Ireland to Scotland c.1840 line, Thomas Brandon b.~1730, Fermanagh to NJ (formerly John Brandon b.1753 of western PA), and Washington Brandon b.1824 AL (suspected off Richard Brandon of Union, SC) Further tests might reveal who the early Halifax Brandons' closest relatives were. Thomas Brandon d.Greene Co, TN mentioned above is a hopeful contender, with some rumors of a Virginia birth for him.
