John Brandon, Westmoreland/Ind./Allegh. Co, PA & William of Butler/Mercer Co

I have found further supporting evidence that my patriarch, John Brandon b.1753 and William Brandon b.1756 were brothers.

For years, portions of the genealogy done by William's ggrandson, Washington D Brandon have circulated. I picked up a full copy in Butler County yesterday.

In there, an anecdote:
Washington recalls his father talking with grandfather John Brandon in 1856. A man named J.D. Mower had contacted him regarding a valuable War of 1812 land grant in Illinois. His grandfather and father decide to inform the man he's confused granddad with his COUSIN John, a single man who might be found in Cleveland.

John Lock Brandon, son of John Brandon b.1753 did indeed get a land grant in Stark Co, Ill, where he died. The only John Brandon to have gotten one.

I'm convinced.

Sally Brandon
