BRAND CEMETERY in Newton County, MS
Posted by: Donna (ID *****5731) Date: March 11, 2006 at 21:33:48

My husband's gggrandmother was Mandy Brand born in 1848 GA. Mandy married John Pinson in Newton County, MS. Mandy's parents were William Brand & Elizabeth Hawkins. John Pinson & Elizabeth Hawkins Brand are buried at the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton County.

William Brand died in 1905 & is buried in the Brand Family Cemetery in Newton County. Mandy Pinson died ca. 1910 & is probably buried in the Brand Cemetery in an unmarked grave.

Now then, one of my problems is that I can't locate the Brand Family Cemetery. The directions are to turn right on Beulah Hubbard Road for 2.7 miles. The cemetery is on the left of the road behind a residence, about a mile through dense woods. Is it all grown up in weeds? Has anyone ever been to this place? Are the directions correct?

My other question concerns the parents of Elizabeth Hawkins. She was born in 1832 GA & was married in GA. Does anyone have a clue as to who her parents were?

Thanks, Donna
