Thomas H. Brand was my gg grandfather, b. 1816/1818 in NJ. He married Margaret E. Steppe 22 Sep 1842 in Rahway, NJ. At the time of the wedding, Thos was living in Shrewsbury, Monmouth Co., NJ and Margaret was living in New York City. They had 3 children: Sarah Elizabeth (my g grandmother m. Evan Fish IN IA), Mary I. and Charles Augustus. The family moved from NJ/NY in the 1840s. Then Margaret died and Thos remarried a widow, Anna (Sheesley)McDowell. They moved to IA and then to MO. Thos and Anna had 7 children. Thomas was likely German.
