My great-grandfather, Thomas Branigan, was born abt 1815 in Collon, Co. Louth, and migrated to Melbourne, Australia, in 1842. The family name is spelt in this way in the Collon parish records, though at least one late 18th century grave in the Collon cemetery spells the name Branegan.Thomas Branigan was literate, but a bit careless about how he spelled his name, as far as I can gather.

I'm interested in finding any possible relations.

Tony Branigan
