Hi cousin! I am descended from Uriel and Leanna Bramblett Burroughs through John Henry Burroughs and his second wife Mary Carter. Their son, William Frank Burroughs, is my grandfather. My father is James Abner Burroughs. I am the end of the line for this branch of Burroughs.
Your mother is, I believe, the half sister of my grandfather.
I live within 15 miles of Shannondale, IN and the homestead of Uriel and Leanna. I frequent the cemetary where they and their children are buried. I named my eldest daughter after Mahalia Burroughs, daugher of U and L who passed away as a child.
I have a few photos of interest to you... a second house built on the homestead with a couple I believe to be U and L in the photo, a photo of the 4 adult children of U and L (Mart, Les, Kit, and John Henry), a photo of Burroughs cousins including my grandfather Wm. Frank, several photos of your mother Gayle as a young girl...
I'd love to hear from you and share information, etc. I am especially intersted in learning more about Uriel. The oral Burroughs history says he came from the VA seaboard as a teenager, through the Cumberland Gap, and into Scott County, KY. According to what you have posted, U must have indeed married L in KY as the oral history indicated. I am thrilled to learn of L's parents. Thank you for detailing the Bramblett line!!
My sister and I have never gotten close to learning from whom Uriel is descended. We know that 3 Burroughs brothers left England, bonded themselves to the sea captain, and setted in 3 areas: Boston, VA, and SC. We know our line comes from VA, especially since many of the others changed spellings.
