George H. "Red" Bramblett

Hannibal Oct. 17, 1922-March 5, 2008

HANNIBAL - George H. "Red" Bramblett, 85, of New London, died at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at his daughter's home. Private graveside services and burial with full military rites by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post No. 55 will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal. Milton Gillian will officiate.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.

Mr. Bramblett was born Oct. 17, 1922, in Ralls County, to Cassius W. and Mattie B. Aylor Bramblett.

He was married to Maxine Talma Humphrey on Jan. 25, 1963, in Hannibal. She survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Ruth Holman (Greg) of Pleasant Hill, Ill., and Norma Shade of New London; one step-son, Tom Calvin (Donna) of Foley; one step-daughter, Rita Mills of the state of California; five grandchildren, Michael Holman, Sarah Holman, Justin Holman, Danielle Shade and Jene Shade; five great grandchildren; four step-grandchildren, Angie Kalmar, Rick Mills, Richard Calvin and Daniel Calvin; two nieces, Mary Belle VanWinkle and Daisy Davis; and one nephew, Robert Sweeny.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Geneva Sweeny; one step grandson, Rob Mills; and one step great grandson, Ethan Holman.

Mr. Bramblett was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served during World War II. He worked for the Marblehead Lime Company for more than 30 years and was a dairy farmer until the mid 1980s. Mr. Bramblett enjoyed farming, being outdoors and country living. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Bramblett was a member of the Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post No. 55. He was a Christian by faith,

Memorial contributions may be made to Hannibal Nutrition Center or Pike County Hospice in care of the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Paul Rosenkrans, Daryl Caswell, Damien Wagner and Tom Calvin.
