Hi Jim,
Thank you for your bravery, as well as your wonderful research. Had never envisioned Uzziel and Asenath as anything other than solidly, stolidly middle-class, and this suggests that they were, for a time. Wonder what went wrong? Considering how loathe people of that time were to have their name in the paper (birth, marriage, death only), something fairly dire must have been afoot. (could our old granddad have been an early tax-resister?) Uzziel was 51 that year, still young enough to work, and at least fairly sound of body. I'm remembering that he remarried after Asenath's death in 1829, corrrect? 'Twenty-seven was the year his father, Daniel, died, but I can't figure a connection between the 2 events. Any thoughts on the subject?
