I have more information now on Clare Avery Brakeman. I discovered that Clare was short for Clarence. He was the son of John Wesley and Esther Louisa (Quackenbush) Brakeman, born in Feb 1857 in Michigan. I found him listed also as C. Avery Brakeman and Clare A. Brakeman. The 1900 Michigan Census called him Clarence A. Brakeman. He married Jessie May Todd 12 May 1878 in Allegan County, Michigan.
Jessie May Todd, daughter of Morris and Nancy Ann (Wooster)Todd, was born 31 Mar 1859 in Grand Rapids, Kent Co., MI.
Clarence and Jessie were parents of four children:
Bessie C. Brakeman, b. 14 Apr 1880, married Leston E. Buss.
Donna Brakeman, b. in Dec 1885
Unknown Breakman, no dates available.
Clarence H. Breakman, b. 30 Dec 1892, married Nellie (?).
