I am glad to know his first name, as on the census records and other sources he is listed as "C. Avery". I have his father as John Wesley Brakeman born 5 May 1833 and married first to Esther Quackenbush, married 8 Jan 1852. and I am sure this is one and the same as E. Louisa that is listed on the 1870 census. A brother, Orson, is also on the census. I also have that father John W. married second, Maria Sturgis. John Wesley is sort of my Brakeman relative as he is the son of the Rev. Josiah and Mary Goss Brakeman. She, Mary, is my "Mayflower" connection. I hope this helps you.
