Who can help with Tunis Brakeman listed in the 1820 OH Ashtabula Co census along with John Brakeman and Polly Brakeman (presumably widow of Christopher who died in War of 1812)? Tunis showed up -- perhaps -- in 1850 in Bath Co KY, age 71, school teacher, b. NY, with a wife Sarah 40, KY and two children Ann E. 8, KY and Tunis 6, KY. Living in the household were two brothers, Robert M. Freeland 19, KY and John G. Freeland 17, KY. In 1860, Sarah Brakeman was living in the household of Robert Freeland 30 and wife Joyn 28, KY. The Brakeman children from 1850 were not listed. In 1850 Rusk Co TX, a Tunis Brakeman 74, b. NY, was listed with the household of Hirum Langston, 55, b. 1795 SC. Since Tunis came from a large family, it is possible there were others named after him. Do the two 1850 entries represent two different men? Also, where was Tunis between 1820 (OH) and 1850( KY)? Lastly, is there a relationship between the Freeland and the Brakeman families that existed prior to KY? Notify Administrator about this message?
