Hi Diana. The Benjamin Brake you referenced (circa 1941) could be my great grandfather but he would have been 42 years old when my grandfather (John Brake) was born. Tell me what you can about him and I'll try to fit the puzzle together.

The only information I have about him is unsubstantiated. According to legend, he was an Indian and had 2 wives in his lifetime - one white and one Indian.

Ben was a trapper and his white wife was in the habit of carryin on with Mr Carter when Ben was away. When Ben learned of their affair he pretended to go out trapping and then returned and caught them in bed. Ben shot Carter but here was no jail so they locked him up in the basement of Bagg Bros store for a few weeks. No other information available.
