You may want to look at a book "Yetminster and Beyond" by Nina Hayward. It is No. 4 in a series of local history books written about Yetminster, Dorset. It has a chapter on the Brake family including mention of 3 brothers, Robert, James & Ralph, who were sent by the parish to the "Newfoundland trade" in 1772. There is also some further information received about the family in Newfoundland by the author, although I did not see a Charles mentioned. I believe you should be able to obtain a copy of this booklet directly from the author; her address is: Mrs Nina Hayward, 22 St Osmond Close, Yetminster, Sherborne, Dorset, DT9 6LU, [England]. I did not have a chance to talk with the author when we visited Yetminster recently, but she may have additional information about the Brake family.
