An archivist at Cambridge University gives RBB's father as William Charles Braithwaite, and states he was raised a Quaker and became Church of England but emphasized religion as the act of living 'agapeistically' (in a spirit of love). Presumably this WCB is the listed son of Joseph Bevan Braithwaite (1818-1905; his son WCB 1862-1922) whose personal struggles at a time when religion was trying to become both more modern and true to ancient varieties are well recorded. It was an interesting time to be a philosopher writing on religion, as RBB did in "An Empiricist's View of the Nature of Religious Belief" (1955). Best wishes, Os
