Vancouver Register, Saturday, November 10, 1866
William Goldbeck resigned as City Marshal and resignation was accepted by the (Vancouver WA. Terr.)common council. George Washington Brady was elected to fill the vacancy.

At the common council meeting of December 17, 1866, $8.50 was paid to W. H. McGrath for boarding city prisoners; and $5.00 to G. W. Brady as City Marshal. G. W. Brady was (also) elected Fire Warden.

Vancouver Register, Saturday, April 13, 1867
On Friday, April 12th Clarke County Sheriff Morse escorted a convicted robber to the privately run penitentiary at Port Townsend, Wash. He returned from this detail in time to help City Marshal George Washington Brady
trail, capture and arrest an army deserter named Martin, belonging to the 23rd Infantry Regiment, stationed at the Vancouver Barracks. Martin had been robbing homes and businesses for several weeks in the Vancouver area.
He was caught by Morse and Brady drying his clothes at
the Richard Ough place near Washougal, Washington. Mr.Ough
had no idea that Martin was a wanted man. Martin had a revolver on his person when he was apprehended which was obtained in the robbery of the St. Charles saloon, some two weeks ago. Martin was turned over to the military authorities and will be tried for desertion and theft.
It has been learned that Martin had recently served a year imprisonment for a similar offense.

Vancouver Register, Saturday, March 9, 1867
Annie Smith, Carrie and Martha Stewart, three women of bad repute were lodged in jail the other night by Marshal Brady for disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace. They were fined $20 and costs each by the (City) Recorder and admonished to leave town.

Common Council Proceedings, Monday, March ??, 1867
G. W. Brady asked for a regular salary to be paid to the city marshal. This request was adopted by the committee.

Vancouver Register, saturday, August 3, 1867
Marshal Brady arrested several soldiers yesterday who had just arrived from San Francisco; who were caught stealing in the Vancouver House (a local hotel) and were sent to the court of Justice of the Peace, Smith.

Common Council Proceedings, Monday, August 5, 1867
Marshal Brady's salary of $13 was ordered paid.

Vancouver Register, Saturday, August 10, 1867
Marshal Brady arrested two soldiers who had brazenly stolen a rug from the Adjutant Generals office last week, hiding it in town (Vancouver) where the marshal found it the next day.

Common Council Proceedings, Monday, September 2, 1867
G. W. Brady, City Marshal tendered his resignation, which was accepted.
The Recorders and Marshal's bills were ordered paid.
