John Porter Bradstreet
John Porter Bradstreet apparently was a land speculator and financier in the 1830s. In researching a subdivision development in Winnebago County Illinois I find John P. Bradstreet in partnership with Stephen Mack in the development of a subdivision named Pecatonic. On June 2, 1838 Bradstreet of St Louis Missouri along with Stephen Mack bought the land for the subdivision. After his death (date unknown and probably in Burlington Iowa) his heirs signed over their rights to his holdings in Illinois, Missouri and Indiana to attorney Albert G Bradstreet. As per the document he had resided at Chicago, St. Louis, and Burlington Iowa. The document dated Aug 20, 1842, lists the Follwing heirs:
John and Sarah Bradstreet of Danvers MA
Porter and Mehitable Bradstreet of Topsfield, MA
Joseph B and Abigail of Boston, MA
Thomas and Amanda Bradstreet of Plymouth Hollow CT
Elizabeth P Bradstreet of Danvers MA
Sarah B Putnam of Danvers MA (widow of A H Putnam)
Lydia Bradstreet of Danvers MA
Samuel Porter and Stephen Peabody of Boxford MA
Albert G and Lydia of Danvers MA
My interest in this is that I am involved in the reconstruction of the village of Pecatonic in which J P Bradsteet was a partner. If anybody has information to share regarding this I would be appreciative.
