John Bradshaw of Presteigne, Radnorshire (north Wales) and of Ludlow, county Salop, but originally from Lancashire, was granted a twenty-one year lease to the "manor and property of the Abbey of St Dogmaels, together with the Manor and Island of Caldy, by King Henry VIII on March 10th 1537. The property remained in the possession of three or four generations of the Bradshaw family until 1646 when it was sold to David Parry of Noyadd Trefawr. Anyone interested in this family should get a copy of "The History of St Dogmaels Abbey", by Emily M. Pritchard, published in 1907, but now being offered as a Google facsimile copy on Amazon books. The Radnorshire Arms Hotel in Presteigne claims to have been the old home of the Bradshaw family. The ancient Norman motte and bailey Castle of "Richard's Castle", along with the adjacent farm was also part of the Bradshaw's holdings. They were related, by marriage, to the Sawley family. They is a pretty good website for St. Dogmeals Abbey, now a tourist site of ruins. Just Google search.
