Bradnam Family Genealogy Forum

In 1849 a seaman named Robert Bradnam married a young girl, Catherine Williams in the Port of Holyhead, Anglesey, Wales. She was 17; he was "full age". They had a child in November 1849, also named Robert. In the 1851 census she was declared a widow. Young Robert subsequently married and started a dynasty of Breadnams. I can find no trace of the history or death of seaman Robert Bradnam. On his marriage certificate his father is John Bradnam. There was a John Bradnam in Glemsford, Suffolk, England who was married to Mary and had three sons. William b. 1823, (probably died early), Robert b. 1824 and William b. 1825. This Robert is my prime suspect for seaman Robert. Does anyone have any information about this family which might confirm or disprove my theory? Does anyone have any knowledge of another Robert Bradnam whose circumstances fit? I am not convinced that he died. He may have abandoned his young family.
