with wife Mary. No record that he joined church, became a freeman, or held office. immigration may
have been to acquire land. Res Cambridge MA by 1635. Lived at corner of Harvard Street (now
Massachusetts Ave) and Holyoke Street. (his orchard is now part of Harvard Yard next to Widener
Library) was a vender of beer and bread. Tavern? Holyoke House. Ancestry of Thomas Charles Brainerd
by Jacobus. Mentions Robert's grandson, a pirate. Will 12 may 1657, proved 29 oct 1659. May have res
Framingham MA. In 1654 a complaint was made to the Townsmen of Cambridge that students of
Harvard College were spending too much money at the Bradish Shop. The president of Harvard
interceded and the matter was dropped. per Savage V1 p 232-233.

bio. Robert and Vashti lived on the corner of Harvard and Holyoke and Vashti was the actual vendor of
beer and bread, though since she was female, Robert held the license. The Bradish Tavern is mentioned
in a lot of Cambridge legals.

12 M v. Joseph Bradish Pirate was born on 28 Nov 1672 in Cambridge,Middlesex,Ma. He died in 1699 in Hope Point, London,England.
In 1698, James Bradish was aboard the hakeboat Adventure bound for the island of
Borneo. While most of the passengers and crew were ashore at Polonias Island for
water, Bradish and his associates aboard pulled anchor and sailed away with the
Adventure. As Bradish was the best artist, or navigator, he was chosen captain of the
pirates. After rounding the Cape of Good Hope, the Ship’s treasure was divided
between the 26 pirates aboard, each receiving 1,500 Spanish dollars. Other booty and
jewelry were divided later. The following spring in March 1699 the Adventure arrived
off the east end of Long Island. Captain Bradish went ashore at Nassau Island with
most of his money and jewels. He sailed to Rhode Island and purchased a small sloop
and departed. His men were put shore along the coast, one here and one there, and
said their farewells, going inland immediately. At last only Bradish and ten of his men
were left. They thought they could pass unnoticed in Boston and entered the seaport.
However they were immediately captured and put in the stone jail. The officials did not
know however that the jailer was a relative of Bradish. One morning it was discovered
that the jail door was open and Bradish was gone. Gov. Belmont was furious,
dismissed the jailer, and offered a reward of 200 pieces of eight for his capture. And
Indian sachem was in Boston at the time and knew where Bradish had gone. Bradish
was captured in Saco Maine, and returned to the Boston jail. Bradish and the pirate
Captain Kidd were taken to London to be hanged. Per Pirates and Buccaneers of the
