JAMES B. VAUGHN was born in Mount Vernon, Knox County, Ohio, October 6, l838 and died at Leon, Iowa, March 5, l923, aged 84 years, 4 months and 29 days.

In l869, he was united in marriage to one MARY SNYDER. And to this union 5 children were born, all
of whom died in infancy. The wife and mother died about 30 years ago. During these thirty years, Uncle JAMES has lived alone.

He was one of a family of 8 children, 3 boys and 5 girls. He leaves a brother, WILLIAM VAUGHN, Los Angeles, California; a sister, MRS. MILLIE STANLEY, Chariton, Iowa; a niece, MRS. BEN CUNNINGHAM, Chariton, Iowa; a nephew, HARRY BRADFIELD, Leon, Iowa; and a large number of friends.

JAMES B. VAUGHN was a Civil War Veteran. He enlisted from albia, Iowa. Uncle JAMES was exceedingly proud of the fact that he had been able to render such a service to his country.

During the last days of his life, he was cared for by MRS. HARRY BRADFIELD, Leon, Iowa and MR. BEN CUNNINGHAM, Chariton, Iowa. He had all the care loving hands could give. His last words to MRS. BRADFIELD were: "I am going home to Jesus."

Interment at Meek Cemetery. Service from Stewart Chapel at 2:00 Wednesday, March 7, by H.L. Olmstead. (*Can't read last sentence - paper torn.)
