Henrietta Amelia Bracey Palmer married William Palmer. Their youngest son, Earl Palmer, is my great grandfather. He wrote his Memoires in 1932, "The day before a slight thaw occurred and the temperature falling again had left a heavy crust on the top of the great snow drifts in our yard, and I am spending the day tunneling into those drifts and constructing quite a wonderful dwelling in the snow, whith the firm curst above for its roof and sections of curst set upon edge for its sides. I am having a grand time and and fail to note that my clothing has become soaking wet from the melting snow within my improvised igloo. when I go to bed after the long and arduous day of arctic experiences, I seem to be all right; but toward morning I awake with a frightful pain in my lung and with swiftly rising temperature." Earl had pneumonia. Henrietta nursed him night and day. He recovered but she died of pneumonia.

William and Henrietta are buried in Prairie Grove Cemetery in Ft. Wayne, Allen, IN. William died in 1894 but the gravestone says 1893.
