Alot of Bracy Family members also lived the the counties of Northampton and Halifax County. My third great grandmother's name was Jane Bracy. She was born in Northampton Couty, North Carolina. She had six children who lived to be adults; William Daniel Bracy, Bettie Bracy Davis, Harriett Bracy Haltead, Jacob Isaac Bracy, Mary Magdalene Bracy, and William Moses Bracy. The last person memtioned has descedants that continue to live in that area today. We lived in the area of Hampton Roads, Virginia where my third and second great grandmothers migrated to in 1900. If you aren't familiar with that area, it is the citites of Norfolk, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, and other surrounding cities. The name originated from the name Vessey in Normandy, France. Most of the members came to the United States through Connecticut and New York. Others came directly to North Carolina through the Albermarle Sound. I hope this information may help someone. If you need more help, please e-mail me at darryl_eley@hotmail.com.
