I'm actually a desendant of Anthony "the immigrant" who settled in Maine, just north of where Richard settled. I believe like William does that we (first bracketts, ME, MA VA and GA), are really fairly closely related... cousins likely.
I believe that no news spreads faster than the gossip family members can spread... and I think the word got out about the opportunities in the new world, which might help explain why so many of the same surename appear here at about the same time.
One thing I've always found interesting is the fact that each line tends to use the same names again and again. Each group tends to have differing name groups though.
Its interesting that you found a Mark Brackett, I have yet to have seen the name mark mentioned for any of the families of that time period. 150 acres is a large land holding for that time, I would believe there must be more records of church related land grants and land deed exchanges of smaller plots being combined to make up such a large land holding for that time... who knows?
It would be nice if you would post any additional info on mark if you find any.
I have yet to have fully looked into the matter(conection between groups) as I'm really just starting to put together my family history but, I would guess the real reason for the distinct seperation between family groupings may be as simple as each may have choosen seperate religous followings.
Would be neat the check on the affilations of each.
See ya,
