I found this obt for James D. Brackett. He was living in Athens, GA,
James D. ''J.D.'' Brackett Jr., 81, of 224 Price St. died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000.
A native of Stephens County, Mr. Brackett was a son of the late James D. Sr. and Pearl Corn Brackett. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and was a member of VFW Post 4346. He was formerly employed by Toccoa Cotton Mill and was retired from Coats & Clark. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church, was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and the adult Sunday school class.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Revs. Albert Hudson and Roger Elrod officiating. Burial will be in Stephens Memorial Gardens with military honors accorded by VFW Post 4346.
Survivors include his wife, Mae Gurley Brackett; two daughters, Evelyn Wilbanks and Donna Ramsey, both of Toccoa; two sons, James Nelson Brackett, Louisville, Ky., and Bobby C. Brackett, Roswell; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Robbie Wilbanks, Steven Ramsey, Jamie Brackett, Dewey Cheek, Paul Collins and David Cannon.
The family is at the residence.
