hI Susan, Sorry to have mislaid the message - just after Christmas was a bit busy.
I don't think I can help you at present, but your confusion about lack of records is very prevalent in Berwickshire, and other counties where there were many dissenting folk. Often they had 'irregular' marriages and baptisms, as they objected to the organisation of the mainstream presbyterian church, which they thought corrupt in a variety of ways. This may or may not be the reason. There is also the possibility that he was an illegitimate son of one of the Brack daughters,who named him after their own father, though I really have no idea at this point. I too had been fascinated by 'your Christopher Brack'. There may well be a connection, and if any clues come my way, I shall surely let you know. Barbara
