Hi Gordon,
The Brock DNA site on Family Tree DNA,found a Swiss Brack whose name became Brock in the second generation in America, and one large group ofBrock's matches his DNA.
It had been thought that my gggf, William Brock, was his descendant, but DNA proves otherwise. It was thought he descended from SC Brocks, but as of now we match a Brock family that seems to have been in Wilkinson, Washington, Laurens Co.. GA. Our DNA matches the Brocks who went from Wilkinson Co., GA, about 1820, to Decatur Co., in SW Georgia, about the same time that my gggf went to Coweta Co., GA, south of Atlanta. It seems clear that my William met my gggm, Temerance Gay, in Wilkinson Co.. and that they were probably married there or nearby, But we have no knowledge of how our Brocki came to east central Georgia.Benjamin Brack, who came to the area after the Rev. War, and his daughter, both appear sometimes as Brock, which makes sense. My gggfather's spelling was phonetic, and phonetically European Brack and Brock would have been indistinguishable.
Other DNA sites available are the National Geneographic site.If I do descend from the Burke Co., Wilkinson Co., Bracks, DNA would confirm this.
Thanks for your response. I hope to learn more.
