Dear Liselle:

I have only information on the Bracey's in America; however, I have done research for many years and can give you some advice.

The general origin of the Bracey name may be French and the family probably came with the Normans who conquored England. The Bracey/Bressie family can now be found all over the world. Since the name probably a reference to a place of origins (or town) all who carry the name may be that closely related. I have noticed that the Bracey/Bressies families seem to have the greatest concentration in the region of Chestershire in western England.

I suggest that if you are interested in your father's family origins that first you interveiw as many relatives as possible and carefully records the information you get and who you got it from and where they got the information from. You can always write away for your father's birth certificate or emigration record if you have no close family. The Mormon's (LDS) family history center is a good starting point for research and they can help you find out more about your father's family origins. Good luck.
