If your question is why people post to a group like Brabant when their last name isn't Brabant that is an easy one to answer. In genealogy people study family history as many generations back that they can. In my wife's case, her Brabant ansestors came from Belgium in the 1850's. They settled in Audrain County, MO. Some of their relatives went to Green Bay, WI.

She has to go back 4 generations to find a person with the name Brabant in her direct line, however.

Brabant isn't a very common name, but there are people in many other areas with the name.
