Charles Web His mark In presence of Benjamin Clements Thomas Caple (his mark) and Arthur Gilliam (Transcribed from the original handwritten will by Bobby L. Lamb -- July 2005. Some words were not legible. Webb was spelled Web. Clements was spelled Clemints. Capell was spelled Caple. Most likely the will was handwritten by neighbor Benjamin Clements. Charles Webb was not able to sign the will except with a mark that was a vertical line with several slashes across it. Thomas Capell made a mark that looked like a bold T. Note that only one daughter is mentioned in this will. Another one or two seem to be indicated by later records. It is believed by this researcher that Thomas Capell was married to Ann Webb, the sister of Charles Webb and Robert Webb, Jr. Arthur Gilliam was the son-in-law of Charles and Elizabeth Webb. Boseman and Birdsong were names later associated with this family as possible sons-in-law. A copy of this handwritten will was sent to me by Dr. Bernie Wilse Webb, retired from the University of Florida, a descendant of Charles Webb through his son Micajah and his son Kinchen.

Sc and Alabama Peter Boseman married Sarah (Brown) Dec 28, 1786, I got (his Peter's) military record today, it says he was born in Alabama but served in SC during the rev war.
Any and all help on this line highly appreciated.
The Darlington SC Historical Society sent me a paper today .
They had following children listed.
1. Meedy Boseman,
2. unknown married Vincent Joiner,
3. Elizabeth Boseman married Jesse Hall ,
4. Polly Mary Boseman married Thomas Wilson / My Line - levitaann@yahoo.com
5. Jesse Boseman
?6. James Boseman
NOTE: This is the Polly I have been looking for. I now have her family as listed above.
NOTE: http://trees.ancestry.com/owt/person.aspx?pid=43156567&st=1 - Ancestry does not list Polly/Mary as a child of Peter and Sarah. BUT Darlington SC has her listed .

Note: The 1790 census and the 1800 census for the household of Peter Bozeman do not appear to be consistent. Two females who were present in the 1790 census do not appear in the 1800 census and one male who appears in the 1800 census does not appear in the 1790 census. There are a couple of possible explanations for these discrepancies. The male age 10-15 who appears in 1800 may have been counted as a female in 1790. Peter Bozeman and Sarah Brown were married December 28, 1786. At the time of the 1790 census, there were 4 females living in the household with Peter. One was almost certainly his wife. The other three are presumably young daughters who would have been born between 1787 and the time of the 1790 census. One of the three young females is almost certainly his daughter, Lucy. The 1800 census lists three daughters, all 0-9 years old. It is also possible that Sarah Brown had been previously married and brought two daughters with her from a previous marriage. These two older daughters could have been old enough to be married by the time of the 1800 census which could explain their disappearance.

However, there is no known entry for Samuel in 1800 making it possible to speculate that Lemuel is actually Samuel.

But, I am not sure which children are Chapman's and which ones are Jesse's. Jesse Jordan Bozeman (born 29 Oct 1810) would be the son of Chapman. Frances would be a daughter of Jesse. I am not sure about the other children.
Note: Chapman and James are listed on the same page with one entry between them. I believe that James, Chapman, and the deceased, Jesse, may have been brothers. James was the administrator of Jesse's estate.

However, since her husband died in 1808, it is not likely that the 3 females, age 0-9, listed in 1820 are her children. I suspect that they are daughters of Chapman Bozeman. In fact, I believe that Sally and her children were listed with the family of Chapman Bozeman in the 1810 census. If appears that Chapman's wife may have died by 1820 and Chapman left his children to be raised by Sally.

Note: No slaves
Note: I haven't found this family yet in 1850. In 1860, they are in Macon County, Georgia. The birth locations of their children indicate that they moved to Alabama, back to South Carolina, and then to Georgia by about 1848. They should be found in Georgia in 1850.
Note: I believe that the son, James Madison Bozeman is marked in the wrong column. He should have appeared in the column for age 5-9.

1861 Interesting story....http://www.geocities.com/EnchantedForest/5464/mcelroy.html
When volunteers were called for by the Confederate government in March 1861. Local companies were formed with such interesting names as the Winston Gaurds, Wayne Rifles, Kemper Legion, Newton Rifles, Alucha Infantry, Lauderdale Zouaves, Secessionists, Spartan's Band, Minute Men of Attala and Pettus Guard. The plantation of Peter Bozeman,Captain of the Alamucha Infantry, became the mustering point of the regiment. They assembled in May 1861 to hear the patriotic speeches by Peter Bozeman and others. Miss Sophronia McElroy pesented a flag to Bozeman's company to carry into battle. Three of the McElroys were members of Captain Bozeman's company. Three others joined the Pettus Guard, named after the governor of Mississippi. The seventh, Kennon McElroy, was captain of the Lauderdale Zouaves. Popular among militia companies before the war , the Zouaves organizations were modeled oh the French troops of North Africa. They wore colourful uniforms consisting of bright red baggy trousers, white gaiters, a short jacket and aturban or red fez. They were noted for their spectacular drill tactics and their ability to load and fire lying down. Many wore this uniform while marching to the front and some for the entire war, but it is not known whether this was true for the Lauderdale Zouaves. The regiment was intially commanded by William Barksdale, a prominent newspaper editor and member of Congress from Mississippi, who although a civilian with some Mexican War experience, earned a brilliant record in the army and rose to the commanderof a brigade in June 1862, known and admired throughout the Army of North Virginia as Barksdale's Mississippians. It consisted ot the Thirteenth, Seventeenth, Eighteenth and Twenty - First Infantry regiments. General Barksdale served gallantly and efficiently until his mortal wound at Gettysburg. He was replaced in command of the brigade by Colonel Benjamin G. Humphreys, formerly Colonel of the Twenty - First Mississippi Infantry, who later became govermor of Mississippi. The battle flag of the Thirteeth Mississippi Infantry must have been covered with names that shone brightly in the history of the Confederacy, for it participated in over twenty battles during the war

Not much is known about Mordicai Bozeman. Rev. Bozeman mentions Mordicai in Sketches of the Bozeman Family, 1885.
