Even though Boz-O-rth and Boz-A-rth are both Anglicized versions of the original French Bossart[d]they are NOT generally interchangeable in this century. Bozorth is Bozorth and Bozarth is Bozarth![except in very rare occasions where the names were misspelled on legal documents of which I have no examples]The alternate spellings seem to have originated in the late 17th century as the Bossarts emigrated to America in the case of my ancestors from Strasbourg,France [Alsace/Lorraine]
or fled to England during the French Revolution. It is arguable however that closely related members of the Bossart[d] family who emigrated at different times to different places spelled their name differently! Loriot DeLaCour Bozorth was my greatgrandfather his wife was Mary Catherine Mathias [Bozorth]his daughter Mae was my fathers' mother.
