Patty,

I am about convinced, due to some new info I received with a descendant chart, that Shadrack, b 1799, was married twice. This chart shows he married BETTY SMITH, Dec 3, 1814 in Pike co, Ms. Of course, there is the marriage record for Shadrack and Sarah Wallace Sept 15, 1821, Marion Co.

A prior marriage would explain a couple of things. 1. The story my aunt told of Shadrack being married to a woman named Betty, whose maiden name was Smith. 2. Shadrack's son, Ellis, reportedly lived to be a hundred...dates from the tombstone are 1816-1917.

What do you think?

Cousin Loretta
