My Boyles came to Scotland at the time of the famine, my gggrandfather was Charles Boyle who was born about the end 18c or start of the start of the 19c. He married a Helen Gallacher who when she died in 1861 was aged 56. They had a son James born about 1840 who married a Jane Carruth in 1868 he was aged 28 and she was 27. In the 1881 census it shows there are six children; Sarah, Helen, Annie, William Carruth, John and Jane. John was my Grandfather and he had 4 sons and 1 daughter my mother. Elizabeth,James, Robert, William and Thomas. Oral family history says they came from Glenties in Donegal. Do you think there could be a connection, my gggrandfather must have had some brothers or sisters and perhaps they emigrated to America when he came to Scotland. If you have any ideas I would love to hear from you or anyone who may recognise anything in this ramble. I still stay where my ancestors settled, in Lennoxtown which was then called Campsie in Stirlingshire, thirteen miles from Glasgow.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Beth
