Actually the Catherine Boyle that I was refering to was born earlier (approx. 1820's) I have that she was born in Ireland, but it may have been Scotland. That Catherine was married to William Boyle who was born in 1818 in Belfast. Her Catherine's name was Henderson.
What information do you have on your Catherine. It is very possible that these two are related if your Catherine is in Ireland. Very often brothers and sisters named their children after somebody in the family. Or it is possible that not all of her children came to America.
Do you have any other Boyle's in your history during this time? Or does the name Gourley, Tooley, Henderson, Wilson, or Gaddis show up in any of your history? How about locations such as Tyrone County or Belfast or Pomeroy?
My Catherine came to America in the 1860's. The Census said that she had 10 children, but I have been unable to find them all. I have often thought that she had children that lived that I did not know of.
I am also pretty sure that she had a sister. We do have the name Edward that runs through the family from time to time. That name pops up through William Boyle's brother, James, who was also born in Ireland and had several children. It is entirely possible that your Catherine could be one of his children. The census also indicated that they had several children, but I have been unable to find all of them in America, too. James, had a son he name William and a daughter he named after his other brother, John. So James was naming his children after family members.
