John Boylan is my husband's gr. grandfather. His obit. states he was born on Sept. 22, 1816,at Ballynagh in Cavan Co. the parish of Denn. He emigrated to NY in 1837, worked for James Forrester, married Bridget Slattery, and had 4 children. Joseph, born in Staten Island, 1858, Margaret, who married a Cunningham, John L., who lived 4 months and Matthew, who was born in Manhattan, IL in 1867. John Boylan came to IL to farm in 1860. Joseph had no children. I do not know about the daughter Margaret yet. Matthew, who is my husband's grandfather, married Anna Walsh and had 7 children. His son Joseph was my husband's father. According to Griffiths Valuation of Ireland, 1848-1864, there are 8 Boylan Heads of Household in Cavan Co., the parish of Denn. I am looking for any information about John Boylan's parents or sibling. His obit. lists 5 brothers and one sister, but no names. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who might be able to help or give hints as to where to go next.
