I wonder if anyone could help as I'm currently stuck in trying to find what happened to my great grandfather William Boylan.
I've found him living in St.Blazey, Cornwall, with my great grandmother Catherine Hill and are both listed on the 1901 UK census. On their marriage certificate it states his father is Patrick Boylan and they were from Ireland, no town name, nothing. Just that both Boylan's are listed as being in the merchant navy.
My Grandmother was born in 1904 with two more siblings born after, yet on the 1911 Census, my great grandmother has a lodger liivng with her and there is no sign of William Boylan, he isn't on the census at their address.
I dont know how to look for him on any merchant naval records if any exists.
Any help in finding out where William Boylan came from, and where William went after leaving my great grandmother would be very much appreciated!!
