Vera,

I don't know if you've gotten your information yet, but in researching the Surface family in connection with the Hales, I came across a William H Boylan b 1835 Warren Co, IN, d in Civil War. He was the son of William Boylan b 1787 Somerset Co, NJ, d May 1841, Fulton, Whiteside Co, IL and Jane Carl, b 1790 in NJ, d 1873, Butler Co, IA. She may have previously married a Cash or originally been a Cash. William and Jane were married Oct 2, 1813 in Somerset Co, NJ. William was the son of John Boylan b 1740 Mendham, Morris Co, NJ, d 1819 in Irville, Muskingum Co, OH and his first wife who I don't know.

I don't have much on the Boylans except that William and Jane appear to have had 11 children including Asa b 1828 Muskingum Co, OH. All I had was that William H died in the Civil War and I was trying to find out when and where and came across your post. I appreciate the info on William H.
