My brick wall keeps getting higher when it comes to the above people!

Obituary for James Boylan, Syracuse Daily Journal, May of 1918:

WELL KNOW ENGINEER DIES; MANY YEARS IN ILL HEALTH

Oswego, May 10 - James Boylan, 62, for many years a well know locomotive engineer, died later yesterday afternoon at his home, 164 W. Seventh St. He had been in poor health for the past few years, but his last illness was of but a couple of weeks duration. He was born at Mumford and had lived in Oswego for 35 years. He was for many years engineer on the N.Y.O. and W. Railroad running between Oswego and Norwich. Mr. Boylan was a member of St. Marys Church and of Branch 560, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Mary Upcraft, Oswego; a son, Private Frank Boylan, who is in France; three sisters, Mrs. Michael Powers, Mrs. Lorraine Hayward and Miss May Boylan; four brothers, Edward, John, Frank and Thomas, all of Rochester.

Obituary for Catherine Boylan, Oswego Daily Palladium, Saturday, 6 January 1923:

Mrs. Catherine Boylan

Mrs. Catherine Boylan, wife of the late James Boylan for many years a well known engineer of the New York Ontario & Western railroad, passed away suddently last evening at her home 164 West Seventh street.

Mrs. Boylan with a friend, had started for the Strand Theatre, and when about to enter, she complained of feeling ill. She was immediately removed to her home, where she died shortly after, death being attributed to heart disease.

Mrs. Boylan was born in Boston, but had lived in Oswego the greater part of her life. Her kindly affable manner won for her a large circle of friends who will sincerely regret her passing. She was a member of St. Mary's church and the societies of the church. Surviving are two children, Mrs. Harry Upcraft and Frank Boylen, and a brother, Patrick Burns of this city. Funeral will be held Monday.

Catherine was the sister of my gr grandfather Patrick Burns. Their parents were Anthony Burns and Bridget Dowd Burns.

I would love to hear from anyone who might have any information on the merry group.

Many thanks,

Kathy
