Hi Joe (and any other Coventry Boyes researchers out there)

John Heathcote Boyes (sometimes 'Boys'), was a Corporal in the 30th Regiment of Foot from 1805 to 1813. At the Seige of Badajoz in 1812 he lost his right leg and was invalided out in 1813 ... I have copies of his discharge papers from the NA. He had a wife and two children when he returned home to Exhall near Coventry in 1813 and they had five more kids before he became a widower about 1821. John remarried in 1823 and went on to have nine more children! Since he didn't die until after the 1851 census, I suspect he might have applied for the Military General Service 1793-1814 medal. I've put out a lookup request to see if he's on the rolls and what clasps he might have had beside Badajoz. Never know, someone out there might have the medal in their collection.

Regards

Paul
