My family in South Africa do not have a direct Scottish connection, but a french connection through the Normans. The Bois, Boys and Boyes came over with The Conqueror in 1066 and for 600years were settled in Kent.Branches spread all over England , Scotland and Ireland. My branch of the family became a military family at the time of the Reformation and moved to N Ireland. The family tree showes they rose to the rank of captain, with 3 generations serving in India My great-great-grandfather came to the Cape in1826.
