Hi Catherine, many thanks for all that information. Yes, the dates you mention with regard to Nathaniel Boyes accord with my own. Also the other dates you note accord with those I have. Thanks, I would be grateful for any information that you may have re. the Buckfastleigh Boyes Family as I know that for many years our family maintained ties with the family at Buckfastleigh, Lustleigh, Teignmouth and East Ogwell. Have you ever wondered how it was that our Boyes' ever managed to move around so much at a time that the Poor Laws made such movement difficult? I speculated on this for some time, and then on my last day in the Devon Record Office this time, found some information which may provide the explanation - the Reynell family (great landowners in Devon at that time) owned land at all the places that our Boyes' lived, including East and West Ogwell, Teignmouth, Ashburton, Torbrian and North Bovey. I am speculating that the Boyes (both yours and mine) worked for the Reynells for many years and that was how they managed to move around so freely. I plan to get into the Reynell family papers (and also see if there are Manorial Records for the Reynell Estates) to see if there are lists of tenants and labourers. I am hoping that will solve the riddle. It would also enable us to move further back into the records with greater certainty. A Devon cousin of mine has offered to do some genealogical research for me, so I might ask him to look at the Reynell papers for me in the near future. Therefore we may be able to compare notes. Good luck with your work. Please do let me know how you go with your research. Do keep in touch. Kind regards, Allan
