I've made a bit of progress, but I ran across something that may open up some possibilities.
My great-grandmother Hanna Boyd was born on 22 Apr 1902 in Pennsylvania to John Mordecai Boyd and Lina Belle Supplee (often seen in records as "Lena Belle" or "Belle").
John Mordecai Boyd was born on 29 Jun 1880 in Pennsylvania to Howard Markwood Boyd and Hannah Helms. He married Lina Belle on 30 Nov 1899 and the 1900 census shows them living at 307 Washington Street in Reading, PA.John was working as a milk inspector at that time.
Howard Markwood Boyd was born around 1861 to unknown parents in Pennsylvania. He married Hannah Helms on 3 Apr 1879 and the 1880 census shows a Howard M. Boyd and Hannah Boyd at the same address on Chestnut Street in Coatesville, PA.This isn't too far from Reading, so I'm making an assumption that this is the same couple.Hannah Helms died in 1898, and the 1900 census shows a Howard Boyd living as a widow on Chestnut Street.
Now here's where I'm getting some leads.I show a 49 year old Howard Boyd married to a 29 year old Ida (unknown surname) at 675 Clinton Street back in Reading in 1910 with three children: Lurie (abt. 1905), Dorothy (abt. 1907), and Hazel (abt. 1909).In the 1920 census, I see that they had a fourth child named Lydia sometime around 1917. It would seem that Howard got remarried and had a few more children after Hannah died.
Does anyone recognize any of these names?
