Earl Boyd, 91, Gray, Washington Co TN, passed away on
Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at his residence. He was born in
New Thacker, WV, and was the son of the late Harry and
Ruby Meade Boyd.
Mr. Boyd was of the Baptist faith and a former member of
Burke Baptist Church of Keystone, WV, where he served as
Sunday School Superintendent. He was also a former member
of State Line Baptist Church, Kingsport, TN, and Cedar
Creek Baptist Church, Gray, TN. He retired from Eastern
Assoc. Coal in Keystone, WV, after 45 years of service,
starting at the age of 17.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by
his brothers, Herbert Boyd and Walter Boyd.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Irene Boyd; two
sisters, Mrs. Nora Curto, Gray, TN, and Mrs. Marie
Buchanon, Jacksonville, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to the in home nursing staff and
caregivers and all of those who provided food and loving
care and concern to the family during their time of need,
and to Mrs. Donna Hatcher for her loving care of her Uncle
Earl.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., on
Friday, July 31, 2009, at the funeral home and other times
at the residence.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday,
August 1, 2009, at 11 a.m., in the Sunrise Chapel of
Tetrick Funeral Services with Rev. Lacy Brooks,
officiating. Music will be under the direction of Billy
and Diana Mitchem. Active pallbearers will be Don
Farnsworth, Shawn Farnsworth, Brian Hall, Bob Hatcher,
Justin Hatcher, and Philip Tarchala. Honorary pallbearers
will be Michael Boyko, Richard Roehl, Robert Scott, and
Wally Tarchala.
The committal service will follow in Washington County
Memory Gardens.
