Hi Jenny:
I research the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 12,700,000 surviving rcds for abt 70% of Irish counties. Rcds are increasingly sparse B4 1840, rare B4 1800.
Note 1 - Without a KNOWN county, the chance of an ancestor's rcds NOT being in this database is AT LEAST 30%.
Note 2 - Only 1/2 of Co. Cork's rcds are in this database.
Note 3 - The RC church kept control over most parish rcds from Tipperary (north). These are ONLY available thru the Tipperary Family History Research center at a substantial fee (regardless of outcome).
For William Boyd B 1909 +/- 1 yrs, Co. Antrim, with a father forenamed William, I found 2 rcds: 1908 and 1910. The 1908 rcd is the more promising.
For William John Boyd M 1904 +/- 4 yrs, Co. Antrim & Down, I found 1 rcd in 1903, Co. Down.
For Elizab(eth) Kate Sealy M ditto, Co. Antrim & Down, I found 1 rcd in 1903 Down. Will leave it to you to see if there are matching M rcds in the same yr/cnty/parish. My guess is this is a match. If so, a view of the detailed rcds SHOULD show their parents' names as well as other info. This info will help identify their B rcds and their parents' M rcds.
For William John Boyd B 1873 +/- 4, Co. Antrim, with a father forenamed James, I found 1 rcd in 1875, Co. Antrim. A view of the detailed rcds SHOULD show both parent's names.
For Ellen Boyd B ca 1875, ditto, I found 1 rcd in 1879.
For James Boyd M 1873 +/- 2 yrs ditto, I found 24 rcds - too many to summarize here.
For James Boyd B 1850 +/- 4 yrs ditto, I found 7 rcds: 2-1846, 1849, 2-1852, and 2-1854. Use the info gleaned from your searches above to pick which, if any, rcd is for this ancestor.
With luck, you can push this back 1 or 2 more generations.
Google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Register, opt to be notified as rcds are added and browse. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
