Danny,
I have done extensive research on the family of Robert and Rosannah Stewart Boyd and have corresponded many times with John and Donna Standefur. They helped clear up many gray areas by sending me photocopies of several documents they had found on the Boyds. I have done my own hands-on research in Meriwether County since Robert's original land he settled on is about 20 minutes from my front door. In fact it was I, based on suggestions and research by Robert Wells, who first publicly stated the theory that our Robert was indeed the brother of Hugh, David, John and Elizabeth Boyd of Newberry, S.C. This has never been proved but the evidence is almost overwhelming. I am sticking to my guns.

Several Boyd researchers have agreed with my theory but, as yet, many have not. At least two of Hugh Boyd's children came to Meriwether County. One married Robert's son, William, and the other (Robert who married Chloeretta Gray) owned adjacent land. Our Robert's will was witnessed by a John Boyd, undoubtedly "Wagonner Jack," son of another John Boyd, thought to be our Robert's other brother.

I am descended from your David's older brother, Hugh Boyd, who married Nancy Hopper. Rosannah Stewart's maiden name has been proven with the will of her father, Joseph Stewart. Rosannah Stewart's mother's maiden name was Mary Tucker. We owe most of the Stewart research to Dick Stewart who has overturned many rocks and found many heretofore unknown facts. The latest is that Joseph Stewart may not have been a Stewart at all but possibly a Norris who was raised by the Stewart family. This is still being investigated by Dick.

Discussion on this family has been hashed, re-hashed and worn to a nub. I feel that many are tired of hearing about them but I would be glad to discuss them with you in private emails. You can also check my family file at Rootsweb's WorldConnect Project which has many sources. Please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,
Judy Kilgore
