Dear Susie,
It appears, like so many Mississippi BOYD researchers, including me, you have gotten ahold of one of two widely circulated BOYD genealogies - either the one titled "Line of John BOYD" or the other titled "BOYD Family Record," neither one of which carries any information describing the source of its information.
Why do I think that? Because both these genealogies have only the information in it that you posted, including "Miss ORR" and Robert having been killed by Indians in Mecklenburg Co., VA., etc.
To what you have, I can add a few pieces of additional, equally undocumented, data:
William A. BOYD Died in Jackson, Mississippi in 1820 and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, also in Jackson.
William A. BOYD seems to have had a brother John M. BOYD (b. 1762, VA; d., 15 Oct 1824, Crawfordsville, Indiana) who married one Elizabeth DAVIS on either the 21st or 23rd of April, 1801 in Maysville, Kentucky. William A. Boyd's sister was named Margaret BOYD. All I have on her is that she married a man by the last name of GARVIN.
As for John D. BOYD who married Anna MCKEE,you might not know that after Senator John D. BOYD's death in 1844, Anna remarried; this time to Mr. J.W. GREEN who happened to be John and Anna's overseer prior to John's death. Their marriage was on 21 December 1847.
Although I have an interest in all Senator John D. BOYD's children and their descendants, I have a particular interest in your husband's Matilda Ann BOYD's older brother, James Madison BOYD (b. 21 Aug 1829, probably in Leake County, MS; d. 15 June 1899, Hesterville, Attala County, MS) m. to Caroline A. KENNEDY on 20 Mar 1853.
In regards to James Madison BOYD, I would like to ask you several questions:
1. Does your husband have any BOYD family information (photos, family genealogies, diaries, letters, etc.) that have been handed down to him that make mention of James Madison BOYD?
2. Are you in contact with any other BOYD researchers who descend down any of the lines under Senator John D. BOYD who might have further information about James Madison BOYD?
3. Other than the two BOYD genealogies I mentioned above, do you happen to have any further BOYD genealogical information?
I look forward to hearing from you, Susie, and trust I have added a bit more to your BOYD knowledge. Should you wish to contact me via regular email, please feel free to do so at [email protected].
By the way, where do you and your husband live. I happen to live in Folsom, California - up north, not far from Sacramento.
