Laura,
Can you tell me something about your James Robert Boyd, and connections in Water Valley, MS?
My great-grandparents were JAMES ROBERT BOYD, b. April 2, 1831 in MS; d. February 9, 1914 in TX.He married MARY ANN JOHNSTON on January 4, 1855, possibly in Water Valley or in Carthage, MS.(I'm waiting on some documentation to confirm the marriage.) Mary Ann was b. April 22, 1837 in AL, dau. of Thomas Johnston and [?].
In 1880 census, there is a family group (3 Boyds & 1 Murray) living next to each other in Eastland Co., TX, which is the family I am researching.Previously, this clan spent some time in San Saba, around what is now Bend, TX.
I believe that James Robert was a brother to William L. Boyd, who lived next door to him in 1880.
Jas. R. & Mary Ann had 7 children:
1.William Thomas, b. April 2, 1858 in MS; married (1) his cousin Sallie Boyd; S.A. Malean on July 4, 1888 in TX.
2.Sarah Jane (Sally), b. April 12, 1862, MS.
3.Susan Alice, b. Dec 22, 1864 in MS; d. July 1, 1938.Married William W. Murray on Jan 25, 1880 in Eastland Co., TX.
4.Mary Eliza ("Lizer"), b. March 3, 1867 in MS; d. July 31, 1872 in MS.
5.Nancy Safrony, b. Jan 4, 1870 in MS; d. Octr 1, 1884 in TX.
6.ANNIE BOYD, b. July 13, 1875 in San Saba, TX; d. Jan 20, 1955 in El Paso; buried in Water Valley, Tom Green Co., TX (town was named by my gr-grandfather after Water Valley, MS).Married LABE BATES HANSON in Sterling City, TX in November 1899.They lived in Water Valley, TX.These are my grandparents.
7.Minerva, b. March 9, 1879 in TX; d. Nov 27, 1967 in Midwest City, OK.Married A.D. Jamison.
Please let me know if you recognize any of the above information. Thanks a bunch!
