The following was sent to me by the founder of "Friends of Hopalong Cassidy Fan Club" and "Hoppy Talk Newsletter":
William Lawrence Boyd, aka Hopalong Cassidy, was born 6-5-1895 in Hendrysburg, Kirkwood Township, Belmont Co., Ohio, the 2nd son of Charles Walter Boyd/Lydia Alberta Wilkins who were married 5-5-1891.
Charles Walter Boyd, b. 7-21-1870 d. 4-1913, was the son of John Boyd b. 1833 and Mary E. Thompson b. 1836. They were married 10-5-1854 in Hendrysburg, Ohio by William Taggart. 1870 & 1880 census lists brothers and sisters of Charles as Sarah T., Robert B., Matilda A., John W. and James A.
John Boyd was the son of Robert Boyd c. 1802 and Matilda Baggs c. 1803. They were married 3-16-1831 in Belmont Co., Ohio
William Lawrence Boyd, aka Hoppy, and siblings are as follows:
Clarence 3-21-1872 Hendrysburg, Ohio d. in Oklahoma
Willliam Lawrence b. 6-5-1895 Hendrysburg, Ohio
John Crawford 12-10-1898 Belmont Co., Ohio
Francis Milton d. age 7 mos on 12-29-1906 in Cambridge, Ohio
Walter Edward 12-26-1907 Cambridge, Ohio
The family moved to Tulsa, Ok in 1912. Hoppy lived there for awhile before moving westward.
I hope this helps.
Bev Bond, who by the way was told as a child that her paternal grandmother was a cousin to Hoppy. I have not been able to confirm this story.
