Searching for any information on James BOYCE b. @1720 ? married
Tabitha (surname unknown). Known children: William, Thomas Finney,
John and Jesse. There could have been some daughters but their
identity is unknown. I first located James & family in Lunenberg
Co., VA in 1848 where he received a land patent for land that later
became Halifax Co., VA. James died in 1761. It seems that after
his death, the BOYCE name just disappeared. William and Thomas
Finney went to Laurens Co., SC. William later moved to Guilford Co.,
NC where he married Elizabeth Nance and lived until his death in
1807. William, Thomas F., John and Jesse all fought in the Battle of
Guilford where John was killed and William and Jesse were wounded.
Any information on this family would be appreciated. I would like
to know where the family was before settling in Lunenberg/Halifax
Counties, VA. I have a great deal of info after they settled in
SC and NC. Thanks for any help.
