Boyce Family Genealogy Forum

I have traced my line back with certainty to James J. Boyce, born in Kentucky about 1819. From there, I have found a total of 2 sources that point to the ancestry of James J. Boyce. A census record shows the father of James J. Boyce as Willis P. Boyce, also born in Kentucky, about 1785. Another source, "History of Boone County, Missouri," written in 1882, profiles James J. Boyce, and also establishes his father as Willis P. Boyce, born in Warren Co, Kentucky. The same source refers to Robert Boyce as the father of Willis P. Boyce, and says that he was a native of Ireland, but gives no further detail, no county, no dates, no spouse information, nothing.
I had been on a dead-end search until I ran into that latter source, which intrigued me. My father had always told me that our surname was of Irish origin, but never told me more than that. Since, I have searched for the name Robert Boyce, giving a range of dates of birth logical for the dates given above, but have turned up nothing.
So, I am in search of any information that may help. The only thing I have to go on the name, Robert Boyce, that his likely DOB is the middle 1700's, and that at some point he wound up in Kentucky, because he fathered a son there. It would be nice if I had a county or region, but I have no such luxury. Any leads would be greatly appreciated, and I am happy to share any information I have.
