Hi Casey, ok here goes, first my info is a bit limited, but I think that my Roy who on the census in Onondaga County NY is listed as Lroy or Leroy born 1833. His parents are Surliness, and Polly P Boyce, both born NY so no maiden name for her.

Surliness shows up in other census in NY as Surlines stating parents born in VT. But it is the 1850 census that shows a Linus born in 1834 to Jonathan Boss born Vermont about 1790 and wife Ellenor born NY 1792.
With Linus are siblings Peter, Hiram and Willard all born NY.

The Boyce surname has had many different variations, Boyce,Boice, Boyse,Boss, of course that is always how the census taker decided to spell the name.

I have had to slow down on my research because of illness with my husband, so that is about all I can offer right now. It is still very confusing to me at the moment.
